Organic farming

Organic Farming is the modern method of indigenous farming where farming is done keeping nature and environment balanced. In this method, chemical fertilizers and pesticides are not spread in the field. It is the best and most viable alternative for traditional farming techniques.

It is based on the use of crop rotation, organic manure, organic fertilizers, compost, etc to maintain in the fertility of soil and also a good alternative to chemical fertilizers. The main objectives of organic farming is minimizing the use of chemicals and increasing the use of organic products in their place to maintain environmental balance.

Nutrients are given to the plants by cow dung manure, compost, bacterial manure, crop residue and bio pesticides. Consumption of organic food has many health benefits as compared to conventional food. The producer of organic farming has high nutritional valve of comparison to conventional food. Conventional farming is capital intensive, which requires more manufactured inputs and energy as compared to knowledge intensive organic farming. As compared to conventional agriculture, organic farming produces cost-effective food products, free of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. The economy of scale cannot be achieved through organic farming since the production is in smaller amounts in comparison to conventional agriculture methods. It has a very positive influxes especially on birds, insects, weeds, wildlife, soil and flora and fauna . It also provides employment and opportunities and economic benefits to local communities. Since, organic agriculture supplies more green house gases in the soil, the farmers across the globe can solve the climate disaster by switching to organic methods and it has potential to address food security issues.

Organic farming mainly describes two major steps of alternative agriculture i.e. substitution of manures and other organic matter for inorganic fertilizers and biology pest and diseases control instead of chemical control. It is an agriculture systems that promotes the environmentally socially and economically sound production crops . It also sustains the health of soils, ecosystems and people. It combines both traditional, innovation and science to benefit the shared environment and promote fair relationships and a good equity of life for all involved. It is one of several to sustain agriculture and many of the techniques used like intercropping, crop rotation, ploughing, mulching, intergation of crops and livestock, etc are practiced under various agriculture systems. It helps in
reducing soil pollution and air pollution. By using harmful chemical fertilizers and pesticides will poison or food cycle. Organic farming is not a goal to be attained. It is an ongoing process. It is a journey rather than a destination.
